WEEK 6, PHASE 2

I recently visited Kent University to take a tour of the art facilities before considering it as part of my further education options. Whilst I was there the tour guide, a Mr Andrew Hewitt who is an arts academic, took me around their darkroom. Whilst there he answered a few questions I had and showed me two books that he highly recommended which I then took note of afterwards. He also allowed me to take a photo of an area of the facilities that were lit.

However, I was completely unprepared as this was a chance meeting and did not have a method of recording the information he shared with me. In despite of this, talking to an expert I found useful as with other sources there's no communication whilst with an expert I can find out specific information that I need. This meeting has inspired me to find another expert in the field.

To find an expert I've searched online using google maps and haven't found any darkroom related businesses in my local area of Reading. This didn't return with any results so I expanded my search to a wider range which I could access using public transport. This included London where I found multiple sources. In my sketchbook I analysed each of these results and narrowed it down to the family run business 'Mr Cad'. Before I go, I plan on producing an list of questions which I can prepare beforehand to get the most out of the interview. I will update this plan in my next blog post.
